About

My name is James Procter

I first discovered beekeeping after watching YouTube videos and was instantly captivated by how amazing and important these little creators are. The more I learned, the more I realized, that I couldn’t resist getting involved myself. What started out as curiosity quickly grew into a passion for supporting bees and sharing their incredible world with others.

Bee Facts that just blew my mind.

  1. Guard bees have one of the most specialized and vital roles in the hive. Their entire purpose is to protect the colony by standing watch at the entrance. (My Instagram video shows this)

  2. Wiggle dance  The more enthusiastic and repeated the dance, the better the food source. Other bees then follow the instructions and fly straight to the “good stuff. It’s essentially a living gps system, powered by rhythm and movement. What’s even more astonishing is that bees can adjust the dance throughout the day as the sun moves, keeping the directions accurate

  3. Honey found in Pyramids. Archaeologists found intact pots of honey in Ancient Egyptian tombs, dating back 3000 years that were still perfectly edible!

  4. What a honey bee can do.  Bees don’t just make honey (obviously). They begin with nectar, carefully transforming it into something extraordinary. Once gathered, they fan their wings to remove the water, thickening the nectar into golden honey. Finally, they seal it with their own wax, protecting it for the hive.
That same wax can be shaped into candles - so bees not only feed you with sweetness, they also share their glow in your home. It’s a gift of nourishment and light, a reminder of how deeply connected we are to these incredible little creators.

  5. Temperature Bees maintain the hive their brood nest temperature to an optimal range between 32c and 36c. Even if its snowy and cold outside, it is still nice and toasty inside the hive.  Warmer than a typical British summers day
